Dr. Daniel Welberts

Daniel has been building new businesses in the digital space for about 15 years, both in startup environments and for corporate partners. Daniel is the co-founder of heycar, a portal for high-quality used vehicles. In his role as CEO at the time, he co-founded the company with BCG X and Volkswagen Financial Services and developed it into a pan-European company with other strong investors (Daimler, Allianz). Daniel also helped build the online fashion business of the P&C Group as a subsidiary, as well as founding a not-for-profit company for digital-based medical education.
In addition to his start-up activities, Daniel spent several years working for the management consulting firm BCG. In his various roles, he has built many cross-functional teams of digital product experts and successfully founded and led companies with annual revenues of more than €50 million. At Orbit, Daniel is valued for his experience in combining startup dynamics and corporate environments. Daniel studied industrial engineering at the TU Dresden and holds a PhD from the European University Viadrina on 'Social Entreupreneurship'. In this context, Daniel completed a year abroad at Stanford University as a Visiting Scholar.
